Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced restorative exercise focused on the flexibility and muscular relaxation.

Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga exercise focused on the development of flexibility, stretching of the connective tissues and relaxation and restoration of the muscles.

Concept of yin and yang originating from the Chinese philosophy represents the ubiquitous opposing of natural forces: yang as the more active, dynamic, hot, apparent, sunny and masculine, yin as more passive, hidden, quiet, cold, lunar and feminine.

While yang yoga exercise mostly targets on the muscle activity, blood circulation and strength, yin yoga aims more at the connective tissues (tendons and ligaments) with stretching, increased flexibility and muscle relaxation.

Yin yoga is hence, a perfect technique to complement other more active exercises including vinyasa flow or different martial art styles.

Like qi gong, yin yoga enhances healthy circulation of the qi (life’s energy) within the organ related meridians.

Yin yoga exercise includes mostly seating and lying positions and practitioners are guided to remain in each of them for at least 2 minutes.

The principles of yin yoga are calmness, slow motion, accentuated self-perception, prolonged holding and resolving into the postures.

The exercise results in deep relaxation, together with integration and stimulation of the self-regenerative processes of the body.

During the Mehana Gift program dated on November 23-29, 2022 you will have an excellent opportunity to experience yin yoga exercise every evening as a part of the restorative – relaxation – integrative practice led by Kristina Höschlová.
